Soper-Wheeler Company LLC has an opening for a qualified Road Utility position to drive truck and operate equipment and other operational duties as needed for the Company. The successful applicant will be required to work out of the Company’s offices in Strawberry Valley, located in northern Yuba County.


  • Drive Water Truck and Lowbed equipment.
  • Operate equipment as needed.
  • Wildland fire protection of company lands.
  • Assist in other duties as needed by supervisor.


  • Valid Class C California driver’s license
  • Valid Class A California CDL with Tanker endorsement and qualified to operate standard transmission is required.
  • Ability to operate a four wheel drive vehicle.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in a variety of adverse conditions including rain, cold, heat, or dusty conditions.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility, agility, and stamina are required.
  • Ability to work in remote, mountainous areas.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Excellent communication skills required.

Career Opportunity

Seasonal full-time Log Loader Operator.

Soper-Wheeler Co. LLC has an opening for an experienced Log Loader Operator or an experienced equipment operator in some other field.  Someone with knowledge of logging equipment and the work environment with equipment skills would also qualify.  Successful applicant for this position must have a valid driver’s license.   

Applicant should be familiar log processing including; knot bumping, measuring log lengths, branding logs, setting chokers and logging methods.  Employee will be required to perform labor tasks such; clearing brush, greasing and fueling equipment, changing tires and other minor mechanical repairs.

Employee must learn to operate all other company logging equipment, training which will be provided in-house during the logging season.

This position is Seasonal Full-Time hourly, working five days a week and several Saturdays during the logging season.  Employee meeting eligibility requirements may participate in the company’s health benefit plans and 401(k) retirement plan.
