Soper-Wheeler Co. LLC has an opening for a Seasonal Full-Time Hourly Landing man/utility employee.

Job Summary:

Soper-Wheeler Co. LLC has an opening on their mainside logging crew for a Landing man/utility employee.  Applicant should have 1-3 years of experience in the logging industry.    Someone with knowledge of logging equipment and the work environment, with equipment skills would also qualify. Applicant must have a valid California Driver License or equivalent.

This position is Seasonal Full-Time Hourly.  The Landing man is part of the mainside logging crew, this crew is comprised of a supervisor and five other operators.  The crew works 10-12 hours a day and several Saturdays during the logging season.

Applicant should be familiar with log processing including; knot bumping, measuring log lengths, branding logs, setting chokers, and logging methods. All crew members are occasionally required to perform manual labor tasks as part of the job such as; clearing brush, fire suppression, greasing and fueling equipment, changing tires, and other minor mechanical maintenance and repairs.

The applicant must have the desire and ability to become an equipment operator, operating the logging equipment used by the company.  Training will be provided while on the job during the logging season.

Some knowledge of the regulations and laws that govern timber harvest is encouraged.  Seasonal operations for this position will begin on or about April 2nd of 2018.

Soper-Wheeler Co. LLC has an opening for a Seasonal full-time Dozer/tracked-Skidder Operator.

Job Summary:

Soper-Wheeler Co. LLC has an opening on their Mainside logging crew for an experienced Dozer/tracked-skidder operator, or experienced equipment operator in some other field.  Someone with knowledge of logging equipment and the work environment with equipment skills would also qualify. Applicant must have a valid California Driver License or equivalent.

Operator should be familiar with all equipment on a logging site.  Operator may be required to perform manual labor such as; working on the landing, operating a chainsaw, setting chokers, clearing brush, greasing and fueling equipment, changing tires, and other minor maintenance and repairs.

Shop/Service Mechanic                   Application Deadline: 01/19/2018

Soper-Wheeler Company LLC has an opening for a qualified Shop/ Service Mechanic to service and repair the Company’s heavy equipment and truck fleet. The successful applicant will be required to work out of the Company’s offices in Strawberry Valley, located in northern Yuba County.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Service and repair heavy equipment and trucks.
  • Welding and fabricating.
  • Assist in other duties as needed by supervisor.
  • Wildland fire protection of company lands.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in a variety of adverse conditions including rain, cold, heat, or dusty conditions. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Flexibility, agility, and stamina are required.
  • Ability to work in remote, mountainous areas.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to operate a four wheel drive vehicle.
  • Valid Class C California driver’s license
  • Valid Class A or B California CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements and qualified to operate standard transmission is required, within 60 days of date of hire.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Competent computer skills.
